Goat Yoga

Intro

Do you like goats? Do you like  yoga? Then you might love goat yoga! Goat yoga started in the state of Oregon when a woman named Lainey Morse had an  epiphany. Lainey’s epiphany combined two things that people love. Yoga and goats!
Many people feel  distracted and stressed out. Yoga is helpful when people are stressed out because it calms your mind. Doing yoga can be very relaxing. Goats can also be very helpful when you are stressed out. They are warm and sweet, and you can  snuggle up with them. Who knew that goats climbing on your back would feel good?
Goat yoga might sound silly, but it has become very popular. People from New York and London have come to Oregon to try goat yoga. People love it and find it very  therapeutic. However, other people think it is just a fad. Listen as Marni talks Kelsey into trying goat yoga.

Dialogue

Marni: Kelsey, I am so excited! I have been on the wait list for goat yoga, and I finally got two spots. Do you want to go with me?
Kelsey: Whoa! What are you talking about? Goat yoga? Is that even a thing?
Marni: It is a thing! And it sounds so awesome. I can’t wait. You get  fresh air because it’s out on this  farm. And you get to snuggle up with a cute goat while you’re doing yoga.
Kelsey: That’s completely crazy! I… can’t you get, like, fresh air doing yoga without, like, snuggling with goats? Like, wouldn’t they hurt you?
Marni: No, no, no! It’s very  therapeutic! They’re just a bunch of kids.
Kelsey: Um, I thought you said goats?
Marni: Baby goats! Kids are baby goats.
Kelsey: Oh. I’d be  distracted because I, like, I don’t trust goats. They’re kind of scary.
Marni: Oh, no, no, no. But they’re… really, they’re all babies. And they’re cute. And they just…they’re therapeutic, because they come up and snuggle with you while you’re doing your yoga positions. It’s going to be great!
Kelsey: OK, but why goats?
Marni: Why not goats? It’s this woman’s farm. It looks beautiful. The baby goats were just there one day while she was doing yoga. She had this, like, epiphany. And it is a thing. And we are doing it.
Kelsey: OK. Well, even though it just sounds like another  fad, I’ll try it. But if I get scared, you have to leave with me.
Marni: OK. Deal.
Kelsey: OK.

Grammar Point

Marni wants Kelsey to try goat yoga. She says, “And you get to snuggle up with a cute goat while you’re doing yoga.” Cute is an adjective.
Adjectives are words that describe nouns and pronouns, for example, pretty, happy, ugly, or smart. Adjectives usually come before the noun, as in, “Goat yoga takes place on a beautiful farm!”
Sometimes, adjectives follow a verb, like in the sentence, “Your baby is very cute.” But in this case, the adjective still modifies the subject of the sentence (your baby), not the verb (is).
Remember, unlike in some other languages, adjectives have only one form in English. They don’t have a singular and plural form or a masculine and feminine form. For instance, you wouldn’t say, “Those goats are beautifuls.” Even though there is more than one goat, you’d still say, “Those goats are beautiful.” Adjectives look the same no matter what noun they describe.
Adjectives are also used to describe how someone feels. These adjectives often end in “ed,” like excited and pleased. Adjectives of emotion often follow the verb “to be.” For example, “Kelsey is scared of goats.”

Which is correct, “Marni wants to snuggle up with the cute goat,” or “Marni wants to snuggle up with the goat cute”?
